Winter Storm in Rodeo New Mexico

A winter storm is rolling in and producing some unusual cloud formations.  Fortunately, I was able to catch a few images with the camera during a break. The color on the photograph was inverted and contrast increased to bring out the wisps of clouds. The cloud formation is reminiscent of waves breaking on the beach which indicates the winds aloft were fairly high.  The winds are out of the west so the crashing wave appearance of the clouds are probably the result of rotors over the tops of the Chiricahua Mountains.

  1. Magnificent photograph. You're quite an artist. Guess that's why they call it the sky 'islands.' Waves crashing.....debbie

  3. Thank you, I was very lucky to have caught these cloud patterns during a break from grouting the bungalow bathroom. But every time you look at the mountains the view has changed.
