The Horseshoe Two Fire press releases and community meetings have also included information about preliminary chipping of felled trees for use as mulch as a method to slow soil runoff in heavily burned areas.  Below is a video from The Arizona Daily Sun  featuring Rory Steinke a soil scientist with the BAER team explaining the tree shredding process and how the material is used in stabilizing the soil.
