Monsoon Season

The monsoons finally arrived at the Painted Pony Resort.  After a few light showers around the 4th of July there was no measurable rain at PPR until yesterday when the facility experienced a good summer monsoon downpour.  Although lasting only about 30 minutes it brought between a half and three quarters of the inch of moisture.  The rain was a welcome sight and it was frustrating watching rain fall all around the valley but not at PPR.  The desert is already starting to liven up and wildlife becoming very active.

A Monsoon Afternoon

  1. Glad you received some rain, as we have all been getting clouds and nice sunsets for the whole month and scattered rain in the valley.

  2. The sunsets have been spectacular this month. Twenty guests were out yesterday evening all around the front planting area taking photographs of the sunset over the Chiricahua Mountains.

  3. We eked out 1.1" rain for the month of July here, but no rainfall more than 0.3". I see rain all around but not here. We have had up to 9 deer here drinking water from bird dishes. Yesterday just 2 deer so the others must have found some water elsewhere. Chance of rains mid week this week, so my fingers are crossed. Toes and eyes, too!

  4. I'm looking forward to rain then perhaps the cattle will settle down and not try to get on the property. No water on the east side so they try to cross PPR to get to the tank to the northwest on State land.
